Sharky’s Chophouse and Sausage Emporium

Sharky’s Chophouse and Sausage Emporium

After having some seafood from Screaming Mimi’s, we continued to walk around Lonsdale Quay Market. The vast assortment of meats from Sharky’s Chophouse caught our eye, so we decided to take a closer look at what they offered.

Plenty of cold cuts, sausages, and other meats.

In addition to their impressive assortment of fresh meats, sausages, and coldcuts, we were enthralled by their hot prepared meats!

BBQ Pork Ribs!!

We could smell the aroma of the delicious ribs and hams. The sweet ham was too much for us to handle, so we decided to order their hot meals to fill ourselves up!  (Q: I have never seen such picture perfect glazed ham…AND my uncle is a big fanatic of trying hot dogs/sausage, we have to stop by here!)

Beautiful looking ham.

Looking at their menu, Q and I were a bit lost with all the options we had! It took us a while to decide, but we ended up ordering three meals to share between four people. Each meal was $7.95+tax and included a meat option, veggies, and either mashed potatoes, salad, or potato salad.  (Q: TOTALLY A GOOD DEAL! )

When we got our orders we were so surprised by the portions! The meat covered at least half the plate of each order! At $7.95 per order, this was a huge bargain. I’m glad we only ordered 3 meals, because adding a fourth would have been impossible for us to finish.

The BBQ Pork Ribs was really good. Super tender and great bbq flavour. The pork falls off the bones really easily, and that’s the way I love them. Ribs were also very meaty, so this was amazing bang-for-the-buck. The mash was good, and the beef-based gravy made it Amazing.  (Q: BBQ ribs were not bad.  I guess I am just not a fan of ribs in general!  The mashed potato was tasty and creamy, impeccable! Because my uncle doesn’t eat beef, we had to ask them to put the gravy in a separate container.  THEY GAVE US LOTS OF GRAVY!  The gravy is filled with strong but tasty beef flavour indeed.  It went so well with the mashed potato and veg! )

Our second order consisted of assorted sausages. They were all pork, but each one had different spices and marinades. All of them were good, and two of the three had some nice spicy kick to them. Nothing crazy, but the flavours were great and the portions were definitely very filling.  (Q: one of them was Italian I believe?  The sausages were juicy.  From my uncle’s sausage perspective, it was “alright and nothing special”)

Finally, we had the Sweet Chili Ham. Great crust on the skin and the ham was generally very moist. There were some areas that were a bit on the dry side, but that was the exception rather than the norm. I couldn’t really taste the chili, rather the ham tasted a bit more like a honey glaze to me. The potato salad was ellgood, but nothing too special. Put together though, this is a killer combo for either lunch or dinner!  (Q: this is my favourite out of all 3!  I love the ham as it fell apart and the crust was just a firm taste of flavour!  Compared to some of the crust that’s impossible to digest, this one is a winner!  I can’t rave enough about the ham!)

We were thoroughly impressed by the quality and quantity of Sharky’s Chophouse. Definitely a gem in the Lonsdale Quay Market, and a place worth returning over and over. I know I’ll be back to try out some of their other meats next time!
