To support ourselves while in school, Chris and I both worked at the same Starbucks in a local mall. I had such mixed feeling for Christmas at Starbucks. It means:
- new delicious pastry
- mellow Christmas music
- delicious (free-flow) holiday drinks
- Starbucks t-shirt
- discounted Christmas merchandise for staff
- rude/impatient customers who are cranky from Christmas shopping
- non-stop madness
- constantly running of supplies and apologizing for the inconvenient for those cranky ppl
Now that Chris and I no longer work as barista, we are enjoying Christmas at Starbucks a lot more. I am going to share my 2 favourite things about it 🙂
Just a little info from wikipedia:
Eggnog is a sweetened dairy-based beverage made with milk and/or cream, sugar and beaten eggs. It has traditionally been high in fat and cholesterol.
It is absolutely delightful! Chris dislike eggnog quite a bit…I am not sure if making all those eggnog drinks at Starbuck had something to do with it. You can even customize your eggnog at Starbucks! I order mine with reduced fat! That means they will cut the eggnog with skim milk instead of the whole milk when preparing and steaming.
This holiday, Starbucks came out with a new flavour of biscotti that I have to rave about. Gingerbread Macadamia Nut Biscotti.
Starbucks biscotti is usually medicore I find but this, THIS IS EXCEPTIONAL! It has a thin layer of the gingerbread syrup coating on the bottom which is not overpowering as the other biscotti Starbucks had. The macadamia nuts are big and you can actually see them.
(Sorry, I couldn’t wait, I had to dip it into my coffee and take a bite first)
This goes very well with a cup of strong coffee with just plain cream in it. The sweetness from the biscotti will balance out with the strong flavour and acidity of the coffee. It is definitely worth to spend extra $1.40 (tax included) next time you are at Starbucks.
