I often have coffee in this Gastown area with a friend on weekends, but this time we decided to get some food too. To change things up, I suggested Acme Cafe. Acme Cafe is an interesting food joint located right beside Save On Meat‘s new location. It’s a cafe that serves up breakfast, lunch, and supper although I typically hear people talking about Acme Cafe in the context of lunch/breakfast.
It’s really spacious inside, and I like how the layout is fairly reminiscent of a diner.
You can find their menu online (here’s their breakfast menu), and they do take out as well.
I was tempted by the European Breakfast (prosciutto-wrapped melon sounds crazy!), but opted for the Turkey Sausage Special as the turkey at least made me feel like it was a slightly healthier meal. Naturally I undue my hard work by ordering dessert right after.
The sunny side up eggs were done well, and the turkey sausage was delicious! This was a good old fashioned simple breakfast done right, and sometimes that’s all you need.
After we finished shovelling the food in our mouthes, we (bad idea) decided to take a quick peek at the pastries.
Their cakes looked amazing, but it was the pie that really tempted me! They had three different pies, a Strawberry Mango, Lemon Meringue, and a Lavender Blackberry. Strawberry Mango hit the spot just right!
